Conserve energy, save money This winter’s weather in the Pacific Northwest has been unseasonably warm, but that didn’t stop me from digging the cold-weather clothing from the depths of my closet. Temperatures still dip below 40 degrees on some nights, and the air inside of my small Seattle apartment can quickly turn cold and frigid. Normally, this is the time of year when I’d crank up the heater.This year, though, I’m doing things a little differently. The economy is down, and money is tight. So rather than crank my heater and burn electricity, I bundle up in long pants, a hat and a sweatshirt when I’m hanging around my flat. I’ve added extra blankets to the bed to keep warm at night. The good news is my energy-saving efforts have paid off. Whereas most of my friends are complaining about their high utility bills, my utility bill hasn’t really changed at all. Many ways to save energyThere are many ways to conserve energy, and this is a good thing! Conserving energy not only means saving money, but it also means your lifestyle is as environmentally friendly as possible. I’m a fairly environmentally conscious person, and I practice many energy-saving habits. I don’t leave lights on, I don’t stand in front of the refrigerator with the door open and I don’t drive my car any more than is necessary.
