Solar panels outside the home harness solar energy to heat water, which is then circulated through pipelines to radiate heat throughout the home. Some people have solar water heating systems set up to heat the water for their swimming pools.

Solar energy can be turned into electricity using various existing and experimental solar technologies. However, this technology is still being perfected. The most efficient use of solar panels in the home continues to revolve around the concept of radiant heat.
